This ultralight tarp can be your primary shelter on an ultra-minimalist adventure or can be tucked away in a pocket in case you need it to sit out a surprise afternoon thunderstorm on day trips, or as an emergency shelter.

Super simple by design and made in the USA, the Hexamid Pocket Tarp provides shelter while keeping your base weight at a bare minimum.

6-10x Stakes are required but are not included. We have a variety of Ultralight Stakes to choose from.

FEATURES OF THE ZPACKS HEXAMID POCKET TARP

• Sets up with a single trekking pole adjusted to around 52″ (132 cm). A tent pole can also be used if you don’t carry a trekking pole.
• Sets up with a minimum of 6 stakes but 10 stakes are recommended for a taught pitch in windy conditions. Stakes are not included.

• Packs up tiny. The tarp is a loose fit in an included 5″ x 6″ (13 cm x 15 cm) Small Stuff Sack.

• The Hexamid Pocket Tarp includes bright yellow 1.3mm Z-Line guylines which save weight compared to the 2mm guy lines found on our standard shelters. The guy lines can be swapped out on any of the Zpacks shelters if desired.
• Overlapping storm doors allow for a small amount of airflow without the need for additional venting. There are no zippers on the doors that could potentially fail over time.
• The storm doors can be opened or closed independently. Leave one or two doors open in nice weather for a breeze and great views. Close the upwind door to block cold wind, or close both for 360 rain protection. The overlapping doors are closed with custom made metal hooks.
• A single closed door creates enough vestibule space for storing a wet backpack or muddy shoes.
• Ample space for one person plus gear. The tarp is long enough for most people to fully stretch out their arms and legs, and tall enough to sit upright. You may need to shift your position to avoid rain spray depending on the wind direction.
• Any condensation, which single wall shelters may experience, will run down the walls and out at the edges of the tarp, rather than onto the optional bathtub floor. Click  for tips to avoid condensation.
• The inside of each corner has a loop for clipping on your groundsheet. Just below the peak, there is a loop on the inside for hanging a flashlight or stuff sack.
• Our two sizes of optional groundsheets have 6″ side walls to protect from groundwater and splash-up. When purchased with a tarp, they include 6x elastic clips to attach to the corners of the tarp, and to your trekking pole at the center to keep the walls elevated and in place. The Solo size is comfortable for one person at 32″ (81cm) wide at the centre, or the Solo-Plus size allows more space for gear or a dog at 42″ (107cm) wide at the center. In sideways wind driven rain you may need to fold your groundsheet away from the windward side to avoid spray.
• Dyneema Composite Fabric can handle high wind loads, and as long as your stakes stay in the ground (use rocks if available) your tent will stay standing. DCF is not particularly noisy, however almost any tarp will make a little noise in the wind. Earplugs are not a bad idea for windy nights.
• Dyneema Composite Fabric is naturally waterproof and is not treated with any potentially harmful chemicals such as flame retardants or water repellents.
• All Zpacks gear has a two year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship.
